What Is Kisspeptin-10?

Kisspeptin-10 (KP-10) is the 10-amino acid C-terminal fragment of kisspeptin-54, encoded by the KISS1 gene. It’s the most upstream regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis — the signalling cascade that controls GnRH, LH, FSH, and ultimately testosterone. KISS1R (the kisspeptin receptor) sits on GnRH neurons, and when kisspeptin activates it, GnRH pulses are released. Everything downstream — LH surge, FSH release, testicular testosterone production — depends on this upstream kisspeptin signal working correctly.

The HPG Axis — From Kisspeptin to Testosterone

Kisspeptin-10 → GnRH release → LH and FSH from the anterior pituitary → testicular Leydig cells produce testosterone / Sertoli cells support spermatogenesis. By studying kisspeptin-10, you’re studying the entire male reproductive endocrine cascade from the very top.
